Transitioning to Modern Essbase: Essbase 21c and Free Form Planning

Since 2021, the Oracle Essbase user community has been faced with the choice of how to transition legacy on-premise Essbase solutions to the Oracle's Modern cloud and on-premise offerings. Essbase 21c (marketplace or independent deployment) and Free Form Planning are equally good solutions, albeit with significantly different capabilities. A bit of mindful learning and forgetting is required for a successful to transition to either solution.

This presentation will aid in shaping expectations on how administration and development will change during and after an upgrade to Essbase 21c or Free Form Planning. We will cover some preparation tactics and shortcuts from the field to ease the transition period to either technology. We will highlight and contrast updated methods and capabilities for dimension management, data loads, automation, migrations, and backups.
